I promise I didn't get lost.... just been busy!

So this is my biggest accomplishment in the past week and half.... I have a wonderful avulsion fracture in my ankle along with a few torn ligaments. The great news is this means lots of sewing time for me.

This little snow man wall hanging is for my open house on December 5th. I designed him and made him all out of left over scraps. He is for sale to anyone.... please check out my esty shop.

This is my witch's table art as I like to call it. I got the idea from sleep hallow designs. I have been trying to be frugal so we bought the pattern and passed on the kit..... it was 80 some dollars from the local quilt shop. This one used two fat quarters for the face, two different fat quarters for the hats and three different boas and of course the buttons and other items to make the face. I'm going to get started on my Santa one! I can't wait to get my tree up!
Some other big news, I am going to change the name of my blog and possibly start putting some designs out for everyone to purchase. The new name will be Farm Crafted Designs.

Fall

Well the weather has cooled down here, so much I even made me a new double sided fleece blanket.

The cool weather put me in the mood to get ready for fall/ Halloween. I didn't feel up to digging through the crawl space for my Halloween decor so I just took a drive to my local JoAnn Fabric's to get some fabric to make pumpkins. These pumpkins are great because you can use home dec fabric...... you know those small squares of the old stuff they can't get any more???? Well that is what I'm talking about. This weekend they are marked half price which brings them to $1 a piece. So of course that just made my day! Enough talking................

Are they not the cutest thing you have seen???? Well I can not take the credit for them I got the idea from Sunshine In My Soul . The directions are also on that link. These make a wonderful decoration for the table top, mantel, or front porch decorations.

Hope you enjoyed this blog as much as I have! Also if you would like to purchase some pumpkins instead of making them I will be selling them for $5 a piece! Please feel free to email me at gcgrad05@yahoo.com with any questions.

Spray paint...... my best friend

A challenge from
Visit thecsiproject.com

So I took on the job of spray painting my stand that was found on the side of the road a few years ago. Of course it came from a trash pile and had some chips and worn spots in it. So I got the bright idea lets get some spray paint.
This is pre spray paint, you can see the rough spots better in this picture. I picked navy blue and tan for the table so it matched the house.
.

I got the table painted..... I dislike using tape so I spray painted then touched up. I'm very happy with the outcome of the table.

While the table was drying I was bored so I wondered what else could I spray paint????? It was a great question. I had previously had a glass jar with velum paper on saying welcome. At night it would be lighted with a small string of lights. I cleaned out this glass container and started with this.

I know earlier I said I was not a big fan of tape, but on this part I used tape to write the word welcome on the glass container. You could of checked out the next picture but some how it is missing.
I took blue painters tape and marked off where I did not want the paint to stick to. The tape worked well because I was able to curve the letters with the paint. Next I painted the container blue to match the table.

Once the paint dried.... well almost dry I pulled the tape off. I would suggest letting the container sit for a while to make sure the paint has a chance to dry. I did have a small amount of over spray on the inside that I had to clean off with a paper towel.
Once I took the tape off and cleaned out the inside I placed three small tea lights in the container. In the near future I would like to get the battery operated candles for this container.
This is the finished project. The picture was taken after dark so I apologize for the bad colors. It is amazing to see how it can go from start to finish with just a little bit of paint.
Thanks for checking out my blog.... I'm hoping to have more post like this one soon!

Happy Mother's Day...... A day late!

A happy belated Mother's Day to everyone. I was able to get my small mother's day gifts done just in the nick of time! I am horrible about taking pictures as the project goes! If you have questions please let me know I would love to help you out!

The sunflower wall hanging I hand embroidery for my Grandmother. She has a wall in her home that she hangs different things on throughout the year. I finished it off with Yo Yo's to make the center of each sunflower. I then added the yellow border and machine quilted it! Best thing is I didn't have to buy anything to do this one!

This group of flowers went to my mother! The best part is she doesn't have to water, weed or anything else for that matter. They will live forever also! I made this one for her to hang on the wall. It also includes Yo Yo's and buttons for the flowers and hand embroidery for the stems and grass. I am very proud since I started this one an hour before Mother's Day!

This one was for my God Mother! She really loved it and told me she will put it on her table for a while. Then she wants to redo her kitchen to hang it on the wall to match!
I must say this Mother's Day has showed me how much everyone appreciates receiving home made gifts!
Thanks for stopping bye!

All these blogs

Things have changed in the Tackett House, I guess it would be better put that the Tackett House has changed. We moved into this awesome house recently. So everything is working it's way out of boxes. We have started to get the garage cleaned out and stuff to the basement. Tonight I was able to work on a simple table runner (which has no pattern) for my mother in law's birthday. Hopefully tomorrow I will be able to find safety pins to get it quilted on my machine. Once things get settled stay tuned for more pictures of the house and and the quilts in it.

I have just finished my nightly blogging check. Every night my husband ask what I am doing, I have them all saved in my favorites list. So this makes it very easy to open that and look at each of them. I must say sometimes I get all excited when I think one will be updated, then it uploads and there is nothing new.

Some of my favorite blogs I wanted to post on here in case someone else would like to check them out.

this one is a daily check http://www.mylifeisastitch.blogspot.com/. This blog is done by a friend of my that works at LQS. She does some awesome work!

This one is a LQS here in Grove City. If you are going to stop by make sure to check out the blog, they have great coupons on the blog only http://www.alwaysinstitchesohio.blogspot.com/

The next one is Material Mary, she always has great ideas and usually says where to find them.

Of course I'm sure every quilter already knows about the MODA bake shop. But of course I had to post it. I love to see the new projects that are FREE. http://www.modabakeshop.com/

This one has made the list because the girl is around my age and loves to quilt!

some oldie but goodies

This is a quilt I have made for Jamie & I's bed. Our bed is king size but I made the quilt larger than that because we fight over who gets more covers. I'm trying to deiced what color backing I would like to put on this quilt. I'm thinking black with maybe a different green out of the same line to border it instead of piecing it all together. Why not have two different types of quilts. Then the big question.... What color to quilt it with? I can't wait to quilt it and have it ready for our bed.
This weekend I am going to a quilt retreat. This will be my first one but I have heard great reviews. I'm looking forward to have so much fun. Now the big thing is choosing what to take with me to work on? If anyone has suggestions please leave them! There are some different quilts posted below that have actually been finished and are being used!

This was my first mystery night. I love the color combo and have actually finished this one with a green minke backing. I snuggle under it every night!

This is a quilt I made for a friend's niece. It is made with Batik's and at first I did not like it at all. But once I quilted it I ended up liking it more.

Thanks for checking in..... stop back to see more.

The first post ever

Hi everyone,
I figured I would start this and share the wonderful quilting projects I do! Of course I have been hard at work for the past few week
I made this quilt as a wall hanging to celebrate Valentine's day. It turned out wonderful!

I recently made a large bag to carry all my junk in, including my small purse.... this bag is the diaper bag designed by Amy Butler. I left out all the extra pockets and the cell phone pocket because my cell phone will not fit. It has duck cloth in between the two layers so it will hold up no matter what I put in.

For the past weeks it has been snowing here like crazy. In our back yard we have snow up to your hips at some places and up to your knees in the rest. The dogs are not so crazy about all the snow since they are so short. But it does give you time to sew and craft away. So please stay tuned to see what else I post soon!
